Best places to visit in London

London travel is very exciting and enthralling for tourists as there are many spots to see and things to do in this historical city. But if you plan on travelling to London, you better chalk out your destinations carefully as there is a lot to see and you definitely don’t want to miss out on the ones you must see. Whether you’re looking for nightlife, history, or gardens or lakes you are sure to find it in London.

London is home to more than 200 galleries, 300 museums and over 100 or more events that happen every day so they are sure to be enough to keep you busy on your London trip.

You might want visit the Tate Museum after breakfast, pop over to Kensington Palace for lunch, and check out the display of Crown jewels at the Tower of London after dinner.

If you’re into fact finding, then Westminster Abbey is sure to be at the top of your list. Here, not only will you find excellent architecture, but you’ll also be able to see where many of the famous people in history came from. This working church which performs services for all denominations is where many kings and poets as well as scientists including Henry III and Isaac Newton are rested.

You must include a visit to some of the many beautiful parks in your London travel itinerary. It is nature at its best here. Regents, Hyde Park and St. James feature nice trails and gardens in addition to outdoor activities such as soccer, sail boating and tennis. And these are just a few. You may also want to make a quick stop at the Japanese gardens at Holland Park and, of course, Kensington Gardens next to Kensington Palace.

Another garden you want to visit which really isn’t a garden in the strictest sense of the term is Covent Garden. Here you will find a wide array of shops and theatres along with entertaining street performers, pubs and restaurants. Covent Garden houses the Royal Opera House along with great shopping and dining. This place is perfect for those looking for some great nightlife.

You must also visit London’s famous outdoor markets such as Portobello Road where you can get a good bargain on antiques just as they did centuries ago. Borough market has been a popular trading place since time immemorial and has the atmosphere of a Moroccan bazaar complete with interesting and unusual Mediterranean foods.

London’s West End is home to many different pubs and restaurants where you can find anything to suit your palate and purse. While you’re there, don’t forget to watch one of those shows or performance. Some of them are said to be as good as or even better than that of Broadway.

A trip to London will not be complete without visiting one of the museums and you have a lot of museums to choose from. Science museums to natural history museums the choices are plenty. The Albert Museum and the British Museum are definite attractions.

If you want to get a taste of the modern art in London you can check out the Tate modern where you can see the works of great 20th-century artists including Picasso and Matisse. Or you can visit the London Eye. Or you can take a glass gondola ride or ride on the world’s largest Ferris wheel.

These are just a few of the things that London has to offer. Not all can be covered in one trip so make sure you make a note of the things you have missed so you can check them out in your next trip.
