Hotel reviews: Royal Lancaster Hotel, London

Royal Lancaster Hotel

Overlooking Hyde park and within a ten minute cab ride of Knightsbridge, Harrods and Oxford street, the Royal Lancaster hotel stands at the very heart of London.

Opening in 1967, the Lancaster has earned an enviable reputation over the years for elegance and service. A well-known haunt for visiting celebrities, the hotel even appeared in the 1969 film classic, The Italian Job’, which starred Michael Caine, Noel Coward and Benny Hill. When Charlie Croker, played by Caine, is released from prison, he holds his coming out party at the Lancaster!

All the hotel’s rooms come equipped with air conditioning, ensuite bathrooms, remote controlled satellite televisions, am/fm radio, direct dial telephone, modem connection, high speed internet access, voicemail, mini bar and electronic safe.

In 1998 the Royal Lancaster was voted Independent hotel of the year by the London tourism awards. It offers 418 rooms and can also boast award winning conference and banqueting facilities.
